Hong Konger enjoys SZ

WHEN I walked into his room at Shenzhen Welfare Centre, 79-year-old Jin Yuwen was attentively listening to music.
Jin, who was born in Shanghai, went to Hong Kong to do business in 1951. The old man has six children and all of them are now working in Hong Kong.
After his retirement, Jin could only get a monthly pension of 2,500 yuan (US$300). That sum of money is not enough for him to sustain his life in Hong Kong, so he decided to move to adjacent Shenzhen and bought an apartment in the city's Buji Township several years ago.
As he grew older, Jin found it hard to take good care of himself, so he came to live in the Shenzhen Social Welfare Centre two years ago.
Jin, who looks healthy and young for his age, is a thoughtful person and doesn't talk much. "Playing chess and watching the news are my daily routines," he said.
When the weather is fine, Jin likes going out on walks with some of his friends or just relax outdoors.
Jin's six children come to visit him from Hong Kong every month to liven things up.
"I feel very comfortable living in Shenzhen by myself," he said.
