Relief payment to be reformed
|
THE unemployed in the city will get paid to take part in public welfare projects organized by the local government in the future instead of simply receiving relief payments from the government.
It is stipulated in the second draft of the Regulations for the Employment Improvement of Residents of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, which will soon be submitted to the Standing Committee of the SZ Municipal People's Congress for approval.
The move aims to encourage jobless people to work, so as to lessen the burden on the government. It also stipulates the unemployed will be stripped of their unemployment benefits if they refuse to participate in the work recommended by the government without good reasons.
The law also states that projects should include an assessment of possible employment before investment is made.
It also bans employing low-wage labourers under the guise of internship.
The current employment registration system will remain.
