SIX candidates applying for vacant director-general-level posts in the city have been accepted, following public notification of their candidacy.
They passed the final public polls, achievements examination and moral standing test by the Organization Department of the SZ Municipal Committee of the CPC.
Four of the six candidates will be officially appointed soon, while the appointment of the other two, for the posts of deputy head of Luohu and Longgang districts, will be subject to the approval of the districts' people's congresses.
This new process of openly selecting government officials, which is being run on a trial basis, is seen by many as a breakthrough in the reform of the personnel system.
The average age of the candidates is less than 39. Three candidates are doctorate degree holders, and three hold master's degrees.
Hu Ge, of the organization department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC, said that the selection procedures were undertaken in a fair, open and just manner.
The pilot project marked the beginning of the city's strategy of selecting senior officials openly and fairly in complete, scientific and standardized procedures.
It was told the authorities are to work out an overall plan of reform of the city's personnel system this year.
