Hitler found Jews with IBM's help
|
THE Nazi Holocaust could not have operated so efficiently without the help of information giant IBM, Michael Hausfeld, a lawyer for former Nazi slave labourers said on Monday.
The former workers filed a lawsuit on Friday against IBM in the federal court in New York.
The lawsuit was timed to coincide with publication of a book which alleges IBM played an important role in identifying Jews and their property for the Nazi regime.
The book, "IBM and the Holocaust" by Edwin Black, claims the Nazis used IBM's punch-card machines to make the slaughter of Jews and other minorities more efficient.
"Hitler could not have so quickly and efficiently identified and rounded up Jews and other minorities, used them as slave labourers and ultimately exterminated them, without IBM's assistance," Hausfeld said at a news conference.
IBM executives understood the machines were used for death camps, but made millions of dollars in profits anyway from leasing and maintaining them, he said.
