Chinese scientists found 142 genes
|
CHINESE scientists' endeavor to complete one per cent of the human genome sequencing will soon come to an end with their findings of 142 genes including 80 predicted ones.
Sources with the Institute of Genetics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) said, the overall serial assembling of 169 cloned segments have been completed and the accuracy rate is 99.99 per cent.
The human genome is the book of life. Launched in 1990, the international Human Genome Project hailed as comparable to man's landing on the moon. Chinese scientists joined with scientists in the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan to decipher the letters of genetic instructions that make us who are.
The complete working map of the human genome is due for June this year, according to the agenda of the project. (Xinhua)
