Officials punished for collapse
|
NINE officials have been punished in connection with the fatal building collapse which occurred in Houjie Township of Dongguan City last year, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported on Friday.
The building, which had second and third floors added in violation of regulations, collapsed on December 1 last year, killing 12 people and injuring 28.
The officials who were held responsible for the accident have either been removed from the office or criticized, the report said. Two of the officials have even been expelled from the Communist Party of China.
The provincial government has filed a suit against Wu Xin, Ye Manlin and Huang Pusheng, who were the designer, investor and builder of the added two floors respectively. (Alfred Zhang)
