Light railway to link delta
|
CITIES in the Pearl River Delta region will be linked by light railways in five years, as 200 billion yuan (US$24 billion) will be invested to build a 900km light railway network in the region during the “Tenth Five-year Plan" period(2001-2005).
The network is aimed at connecting major cities in the Pearl River Delta region and to link the traffic systems of Hong Kong and Macao with Guangzhou. Trams running between cities will greatly facilitate economic development and travel convenience.(SD-News)
