US$265,000 for hole-in-one

AUSTRALIAN golfer Nathan Green earned himself US$265,000 with a hole-in-one on the 161-metre, par-three 12th hole at the US$530,000 Australian Masters yesterday.
The ace helped the 35-year-old Green equal leaders, Briton Colin Montgomerie and overnight leader Brett Rumford, on 10-under par after 13 holes.
Green had started the day as one of four players in equal fifth position on eight-under par 208 but in a roller-coaster start to his round he had three consecutive bogeys on the fourth, fifth and sixth holes before picking up two birdies, an ace and another birdie. (SD-Agencies)
