They will also be able to shop on the Web using their bank cards, with their purchases being delivered within 24 hours.
At the end of next month, the first part of “Easy Life" — 100 computers located throughout the city — will become available for free.
At a ceremony on Thursday, Shum Yip Co, a company specializing in e-service, unveiled the “Easy Life" system. With technical support from IBM and 150 million yuan (US$18 million) in investment, the system, a broadband Internet service, is designed to make life easier.
The sophisticated system employs interactive and easy-to-use computer terminals. It offers ticketing, shopping and financial services, and even map guides.
About 1,000 computers are expected to be installed within the year, and may in future be expanded to cities throughout China.
