Educational co-operation touted
|
THE Netherlands and China have a bright future for educational cooperation, said Loek Hermans, minister of education, culture and science of the Netherlands, in Beijing on Monday.
The Netherlands will continue to offer scholarships to Chinese students, and the higher education exchanges between the two countries will expand, he told reporters after attending the Sino-Dutch Higher Education Matchmaking Conference.
Hermans said that the co-operation between the Netherlands and China in the educational field has been fruitful in recent years, especially in higher education.
He was referring to the Delta fund, established early this year to enrol outstanding students from China, Indonesia and South Africa. Besides, related institutes of both countries signed an agreement on Sunday to set up an educational support office in China to offer scholarships to Chinese students.
Hermans said that international co-operation in higher education will be strengthened. The Netherlands takes China as its priority for co-operation, for China has a long history and has developed rapidly in science and higher education. He vowed to further the co-operation of the two countries in this regard.
Arriving on February 17, Hermans hopes to improve the co-operation between educational institutes of the two countries, introduce the higher education in the Netherlands, and cement ties in education, science and commerce with China.
