Local students head for HK
|
THE Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HUST) accepted the first group of nine Shenzhen high school graduates early this month for a three-year bachelor's degree programme.
The lucky students were enrolled last year with the approval of related governmental offices and the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
After completing a course of intensive English training, maths and computer science provided by Nanjing University, the nine young Shenzheners were registered at HUST together with freshmen from Beijing University and several other top Chinese universities.
Since 1998, HUST has recruited freshman students from mainland universities. Last year was the first time the practice was extended to SZ.
This year, HUST will continue to recruit local high school graduates, who only need to take a test arranged by the university itself instead of the National College Entrance Exams.
