Local elected deputy governor

LI RONGGEN, former chairman of the SZ Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, was elected deputy governor of Guangdong Province on February 19 at the fourth meeting of the Ninth People's Congress of Guangdong Province before it closed in Guangzhou.
Li told local reporters he was honoured to be elected. Refering to SZ, where he was born and raised, he said he has spent some unforgettable days here and harbours deep love for the city.
The 51-year-old Li, born in Longgang District, started his career as chairman of the Bao'an County Committee of the CPC in 1984 and took the post of SZ's vice-mayor in 1993. Before he became chairman of the SZ Municipal Committee of the CPPCC last June, he held office as vice-chairman of the SZ Municipal Committee of the CPC.
