Eased visa rules brings more visitors
|
THE number of Hong Kong travel agencies bringing foreign travellers to Shenzhen has seen a rapid increase from six to 200 since last December, when SZ instituted a policy granting foreigners 144-hour visas.
It is predicted that under the 144-hour visa policy, foreigners travelling to SZ are expected to increase to 300,000 persons this year for it frees foreign travellers from having to apply for new visas after staying 72 hours in the mainland area.
The 144-hour visa policy was put into effect last December, extending previous 72-hour visa sceme. Altogether 10 cities including SZ in Guangdong Province have instituted the policy.
