From Hong Kong iMail Feb 21
THE owner of a stolen rare dog - worth more than $700,000 - is offering a $500,000 reward for its return.
“Anna”, a 14-month-old neapolitan mastiff bitch, was snatched by two men yesterday from her Tai Po home.
Her owner, surnamed Leung, said Anna had a market worth of more than $700,000.
Mr Leung said he was shopping near his home at Tong Sheung Tsuen at 11.45am when he saw a white light van pull up.
Mr Leung's wife, surnamed Chow, heard some barking noises and saw a man rush out of their home with the dog.
Another man was waiting inside the van and they drove off immediately.
Mr Leung jotted down the number of the van's licence plate and reported the theft to police.
However, officers failed to trace the van and they later found the number of the licence plate to be false.
Mr Leung said he would pay $500,000 to get his dog back alive, or $300,000 if it was dead.
Anna is grey, weighs 52 kilograms and is 1.2 metres long and 60 centimetres tall.
