Tree cutters fined
|
A COMPANY in Bao'an District was recently fined nearly 50,000 yuan (US$6,000) for chopping down six Dawang coconut trees and seven Qiufeng trees on Saturday.
The trees were apparently chopped down on February 12 by construction workers who were working on the company's building when a crane collapsed, breaking the trees. They then chopped up the trees, without first gaining official approval.
It is reported that six new Dawang coconut trees have been bought in from Zhongshan to replace the lost trees.
