Baby gets cornea transplant
|
THE Ophthalmology Hospital in Shenzhen performed a cornea transplant on a 100-day-old baby who may be the youngest cornea recipient in China's histrory.
The baby was born in Hunan with diseased cornea. The parents, after consulting with Dr Yao Xiaoming with the SZ hospital over the phone, brought the child to the city for the operation on February 19.
On February 21, a fresh cornea was transplanted to the baby's left eye. The whole operation took an hour. According to Yao, so far it appears to have been a success.(SD News)
