Trade via bank cards soars

SZ is in second place behind Shanghai in terms of the total amount of money drawn and monetary transactions made using the city's automatic teller machine (ATM) and pay-with-bank-card POS systems, although Shenzhen is in first place nationwide in terms of the average transaction volume, according to statistics from the National Bank Cards Office.
The statistics suggest that people are becoming increasingly dependent on the computerized systems, which allow transactions to be made at any time of day or night.
The POS network refers to sales terminals often equipped in shopping centres, hotels and restaurants. Altogether 1.4 billion yuan in transactions was made using POS last year.(Zhang Zhiyong)
