Prize winner

HOUHAI Primary School won first prize at the second "light of intelligence" odyssey of the mind competition in Guangdong Province, which wrapped up on Sunday.
During the long-term problem solution section, students designed a structure composed of slices of soft wood (20cm high and 15.8g in weight) that amazingly held up a pair of dumbbells as heavy as 450kg. The show was received by the audience and the judging committee with warm applause.
Young tennis stars
WANG Zhao, a 12-year-old memebr of the SZ Juvenile Tennis Team, recently won the National Juvenile Tennis Tour Championship for his age group, and also came in second in doubles collaborating with a player from Liaoning. Qiu Sisi, a girl from the same team, came third in the singles and won the doubles championship with a partner from Beijing.
Art colleges recruit
LOCAL universities will recruit 463 art students this year. Among these, art design, industrial design, painting, music, performance and dancing programmes at SZ University will recruit 143 new students from within Guangdong Province. Applicants to the performance major can register for the exams on April 12 at the Students' Activity Centre on campus. SZ Polytechnic will recruit 320 art students for programmes in costume design, advertising, furniture design and others.
