THE Tenth Five-Year Plan (2001-2005) for Shenzhen's National Economy and Informationization was approved on March 10 following strict appraisal by the nation's specialists committee.
Under the plan, Shenzhen will place heavy emphasis in the next five years on upgrading its information facilities
By 2005, Shenzhen will lead the country in informationization, thanks to a digital network which will cover every corner of the city, an achievement equal to, or better than, many developed nations.

Office networks will be further popularized among governmental institutions and more experts in the field will be hired.
Twenty experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ministry of Science and Technology , Ministry of Information Industry and Qinghua University carried out the assessment.(Alfred Zhang)
