Ugandan President-elect Vows to modernize agriculture
|
UGANDAN President-elected Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday vowed that his government is going to focus on rapid modernization of agriculture in rural areas so that each homestead will have at least two acres of either coffee, tea, cotton or mangoes.
Museveni made the remarks at a large rally celebrating his re-election in the presidential race in the capital Kampala.
He called upon the ministries of works, housing, communication and local government together with chairmen of districts to pay attention to road infrastructure.
The president also said he will also reinforce the police force for the social security.
He further stressed the necessity of computerizing voter names, photos and thumbs prints so that there is no room for cheating in elections.
Museveni was on Wednesday re-elected president of Uganda for the next five-year term in the just concluded general elections. (Xinhua)
