Nanotech used in making volleyball

"NANOMETRE soft volleyball", called by the manufacturers, was born in a lab in Beijing.
Lin Jiuzhong, general manager of Beijing East Yonglin Tech Development Co Ltd, said on Wednesday that his lab staff had succeeded in producing some soft volleyballs which were covered with high-tech nanometre materials.
One nanometre is one billionth metre long. Balls covered with nanometre materials are water-resistant and dust-free.
"The nanometre soft volleyballs are as clean as lotus leaves. They remain clean even when being played in conditions of raining or mud," said Lin. "Soft volleyball fans in China will benefit most from our success (in combining high technology with soft volleyball) since most of them usually play on outdoor muddy grounds because of the shortage of gyms."
Lin said the price of the high-tech balls will not go as high as it has been rumoured. "Compared with making a normal ball, a nanometre soft volleyball's cost increases no more than two yuan (US$ 0.24)," he said. "One nanometre soft volleyball will be sold at a price around 70 yuan (US$8.43)."(SD-Agencies)
