City lacks top talents
|
SHENZHEN will need 420,000 top-notch specialists over the next 10 years, Labour Bureau director-general Yu Huihong revealed at a recent work meeting.
Yu also warned that, at present, top-level talents with specialized training accounted for only 1.4 per cent of the local work force, while the figure in Shanghai is seven per cent — a possible sign of labour shortages ahead.
“Though there are many people with high degrees, the number of people with special skills is not very big," he said.
Shenzhen now plays host to only 58,000 people with special skills, according to Yu.
Officials with the local labour department attribute the talent shortage to the city's ongoing industrial upgrading.
The local government has devised measures to lure talents from all over the country and abroad in a bid to keep local labour force in line with economic development in the city. (SD Agencies)
