Blasts criminal: police
|
THE explosions in the capital of Hebei Province that killed 108 people were criminal acts, according to the findings of preliminary investigations by the police.
The explosion sites have been cleared up and further investigation is underway.
A string of blasts ripped through four buildings, including a five-storey dormitory building of the No 3 Cotton Mill, in Shijiazhuang City at around dawn on Friday, killing 108 people and injuring 38.
Wang Zhongyu, a State Councillor and secretary general of the State Council, arrived in Shijiazhuang on Friday afternoon. He toured the four sites of explosions with provincial officials and condoled with families of the dead on behalf of the central Party authorities and the State Council.
Police on Saturday published a warrant of a deaf ex-worker of the No 3 Cotton Mill for the alleged murder of his girlfriend and other “extremely serious crimes", but did not say whether he is linked to the deadly bombings.
The Legal Daily and the China Police Daily on Saturday carried black and white photos of Jin Ruchao, 41, along with details of an arrest warrant.
Jin was a fugitive wanted for the March 9 killing of his girlfriend Wei Zhihua in Maguan County, in South China's Yunnan Province in the other end of the country, said the warrant.
A 50,000 yuan (US$6,000) reward was offered for any information leading to his arrest.
The warrant said Jin had two rooms in the cotton mill's two dormitory buildings. (SD-Xinhua)
