Consultative body convenes

THE Second Session of the Third Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) began yesterday.
More than 340 members are attending the session and will offer suggestions on how to improve the city's economic development and other issues of significance.
New goals for Shenzhen in the coming five years are the primary focus of the advisory body. It is said that more than 300 members have aired their views on the improvement of the city's 10th Five-Year Plan (from 2001 to 2005).
Pollution in the city's water resources and other important issues have also received heavy attention from the members.
According to latest statistics, since last June's annual session, the advisory body has received 708 motions from its members, among which 682 have been handled by the city's various departments.
