A joint British-Chinese corporation jointly invested US$0.9 billion in building a Chinatown near London's seaport.
The town includes a Sino-European trade centre, a deparment store, an exhibition hall, four-star hotels and Chinese-style streets. The architecture is distinctively Chinese with decorations in the ancient Beijing palace style.
Moscow's Chinatown, Russia
Not far from Moscow's Red Square, there is a semicircus district which is called Chinatown. There are many Chinese restaurants and stores. People eat Chinese food there and even talk in Chinese.
Melbourne's Chinatown, Australia
Melbourne's Chinatown predominantly extends along Little Bourke Street between Spring Street and Swanston Street. Eating houses and top class restaurants take their place with the streetscape and it's low-rise brick buildings, retaining historic character.
It is a busy and important social and economic centre for the Chinese Community and proudly stands as one of Melbourne City's most popular venues.
Throughout the year there are many traditional festivals and activities making Chinatown a popular destination in the city centre for local, interstate and international visitors.
