Hairless mice bred for skin treatment
|
SCIENTISTS from Zhengzhou University in central China's Henan Province claimed that they have successfully bred hairless mice after 10 years' efforts.
The scientists said, the hairless mice, given birth by kindred "brothers and sisters", are the outcome of "intermarriage".
Scientists said the skin of the hairless mice could be used for skin grafting as well as treatment of skin waning, tumour burns, frostbite and for testing cosmetic products.
The life span of the hairless mouse is about one year. As the mutation genes are still kept, the skin structure of the hairless mouse is more like that of human skin structure than that of ordinary mouse skin.
The scientists said the hairless mice could also become precious lab animals for bio-medical research programmes.(Xinhua)
