Lennon's limo, piano go under the hammer
|
JOHN LENNON'S piano and stretch limousine will go under the hammer today (Beijing time) in an Internet auction that has attracted Beatles fans from around the world.
The white limousine, ordered by Lennon to mark the start of his solo career with Yoko Ono and lovingly restored by Finnish collector Mikael Borgman, is expected to fetch up to US$575,000.
The piano being offered was kept by Lennon in his New York apartment for the last seven years of his life. Its price may top US$1.25 million. Lennon was gunned down outside the apartment building, known as the Dakota, in 1980 by a crazed fan.
