Security meeting optimistic

PALESTINIAN security officials urged Israel to end the blockade and closure on Palestinian villages and cities, reopen the Gaza International Airport and remove restrictions on Palestinian fishermen.
Palestinian Public Security Chief in the Gaza Strip Abdel Razeq Majeydeh, who attended the Israeli-Palestinian security meeting on Wednesday evening at the residence of US ambassador to Israel in Tel Aviv, called on Israel to comply with the Palestinian legitimate rights.
The meeting, the second in a week between the two sides, was aimed at finding ways to ease tension in the Palestinian territories.
Meanwhile, Israel Radio quoted an Israeli official source as saying that the Israeli-Palestinian security meeting was "positive".
During the meeting, the Israeli side said that Israeli security forces would not stop military operations as long as Palestinian attacks against Israeli targets continue, the source added.
Participants from the Palestinian side also included Chief of Palestinian Preventive Security in the West Bank Jibril Rajoub and Intelligence Service Chief Amin al-Hindi. But Chief of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service in the Gaza Strip Mohammed Dahlan refused to attend the meeting to protest Israeli gunfire on a convoy of senior Palestinian security officials at the Erez crossing point while they returned from a security meeting with Israel last week.
Although no agreements were reached during the more-than-three-hour meeting, the two sides agreed to hold another meeting next Monday to find ways to reduce ongoing conflicts in the Palestinian territories. (Xinhua)
