Nation's 1st multimedia palm computer made

SUNSHINE Group, a local automation and computing technology firm, has introduced the nation's first multimedia palm computer last month, stepping up competition in China's mobile computing market.
The Fortune 1688 integrates PC functions with the latest communication and networking technologies, putting many office tasks into the mobile device.
The palm computer is powered by embedded open-platform Sunshine 2000, proprietary software developed by the Sunshine Group.
According to Sunshine's engineers, the software is one of the first in the country to accommodate writing input and offer full Chinese font support.
The palm computer expands the user's scope of communication by offering convenient web and fax services.
The company, noted for its personal digital assistant and palm computer products, has also announced plans to develop the country's largest research, development and production centre for these product lines.
The new palm computer marks the maturity of Sunshine embedded software technology, which experts believe will lead to many other new intelligent products. Engineers with Sunshine say the embedded software package, once deployed in home appliances, will contribute to creating a new "digital lifestyle".
Other leading computer manufacturers in China, including Legend and Founder, have also developed their own palm computers. Five million palm computers were produced in the country last year.
