SIXTY contracts valued at over US$600 million were signed on the first day of the Int'l Digital Fair held in Huizhou City, South China's Guangdong Province on Monday, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.
The event, which is the first of its kind held in Huizhou City, has attracted quite a number of world-famous multinationals, ranging from IBM and NEC, to LG and Haier, the paper said.
The fair features more than 800 kinds of the latest digital electronic products from various countries and regions. It also provides a variety of technological and investment co-operative projects, the Xinhua News Agency said on Monday.
Huizhou City posted an annual growth rate of 30 per cent in its overall output value of the electronic industry during the ninth Five-Year Plan period. Last year, its electronic industry recorded an overall output value of 43 billion yuan (US$5.2 billion), making Huizhou the fastest growing city in the Pearl River Delta Region.
Taking advantage of this fair, Huizhou will try to upgrade its electronic industry and grow into an “international digital city," said Xiao Zhiheng, secretary of the Huizhou City Committee of the Communist Party of China.(SD-Xinhua)
