Beijing hosts arts fest
|
SPONSORED by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, the "Meet in Beijing Arts Festival" started on Friday. Troupes and artists from around the world, including Placido Domingo and the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra will stage performances in the national capital.
During the 43-day festival, audiences will enjoy 54 stage performances, eight outdoor shows and three art exhibitions covering symphonic music, pop music, ballet and musical drama.
The best of Chinese singers, dancers and acrobats will join the festival in a special variety show at the Great Hall of the People on April 25.
All of them are winners of various international awards during the past few years. As Xing Dehui, director of the performance, said, the show is arguably the largest of its kind in nearly two decades.(SD-Xinhua)
