Water source cleaned up

ENVIRONMENTALLY unsound structures in Dawang Village, Shenzhen, were razed on Friday morning as part of a move to protect the city's source of drinking water.
A meeting was held in Dawang Village by the municipal government to tackle the problem of drinking water pollution.
Speaking at the meeting, SZ Vice-Mayor Zhuo Qinrui demanded adjustment of the Guanlanhe River Emergency Pollution Prevention Project, and the building of trash incineration plants in Bao'an and Longgang districts.
Experts noted that polluted water from daily life has recently become the largest source of pollution along the Dongjiang and Shenzhen water channelling project.
It is reported that clean-up priority will be given to sources of pollution along the Dongjiang and Shenzhen water channelling project.
Dawang Village has been designated by the State as the first-class and second-class protection area since the founding of the Shenzhen special economic zone.
