In love with fashion

Peng Zhaoxia
YOU would never be able to tell just by looking at her that Lu Ying is one of the country's most respected fashion designers. She doesn't swoosh into a room reeking glamour and arrogance, but she deserves to: Lu, who designs for Dispating, a local fashion brand, is ranked fifth among China's top 10 fashion designers.
After absorbing experience from international design houses, Lu created her own style by blending Chinese style with modern fashion -- a fusion which retains a traditional vision of feminine beauty while showing off modern elements. Her design delivers a message of classical and oriental beauty. Light and transparent, visionary and feminine... hers is a genuine, womanly outlook.
Born in Sichuan Province and educated in the Fashion Design Department of the Suzhou Silk Engineering College in Jiangsu Province, Lu Ying seems to have fallen head over heels with fashion design. "I was not born to a design family, but I loved painting from a very early age. At the moment when I realized that clothing can make people beautiful, I decided to devote myself to this career---a career of designing beauty."
Lu Ying has been working as a designer since 1991. After years of hard work, she finally found herself in Shenzhen two years ago, where she boosted her career by designing for Dispating, a popular brand of women's office and casual wear.
It takes a lot of concentration to design. However, Lu Ying's efforts paid off. In 1999, she was named one of China's top 10 fashion designers at the first session of an appraisal of designers in Shenzhen.
