Phony Tiger gets 200-year sentence
|
ANTHONY LEMAR TAYLOR, who posed as Tiger Woods to steal such items as a luxury car and big-screen television, was sentenced to spend 200 years in prison.
Judge Michael Virga gave Taylor the maximum sentence under this state's third-time offender programme for eight theft and two perjury charges. The 30-year-old has been convicted of 20 crimes over 17 years.
Taylor was found guilty of falsely obtaining a driver's licence identifying him as Eldrick T Woods with Woods' birth date and social security number. He used the identification and phony credit cards for US$17,000 in purchases.
James Greiner, Taylor's lawyer, said the 200-year term equates to a death sentence and his client should receive only the minimum 19 years.(SD-Agencies)
