CITIZENS driving to Shenzhen's eastern beaches during the holidays found a pleasant surprise by driving along the wide and clean A section of the Yantian-Bagang Expressway, which recently entered service.
“Time is saved," a family of three who drove from Nanshan District told a reporter at the Dameisha Toll Gate. “It only takes 40 minutes from Nanshan to Dameisha," they said.
Reports said that it only takes five minutes from Yantian District to Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches with only five yuan (US$0.6) in toll charges.
According to a toll-taker, about 16,500 vehicles used the expressway on May 1, earning 870,000 yuan, four times more than usual.
