Tourism income
BEIJING: China achieved 28.8 billion yuan (US$3.456 billion) tourism income in the week-long Labour Day vacation.
According to the report issued yesterday night by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), China received 73.77 million tourists in the period, with the average expenditure reaching 390 yuan per capita.
Research centre
BEIJING: Peking-Yale Joint Centre for Plant Molecular Genetics and Agro-biotechnology, a joint research institution between China's Beijing University and US Yale University, was unveiled in Beijing University on Monday.
According to Richard C Levin, President of Yale, the long-term goal of the Centre is to support a multidisciplinary research programme in plant biology in which independent research groups will work within a common facility, sharing resources and expertise.
