Workers prepare to complete highway
|
THE whole of first section of the Yantian-Bagang Expressway, namely the section between Yantian and Xichong, is slated to enter service on June 1, while construction on the next section will kick off at the end of this year, according to Vice-Mayor Li Decheng on Wednesday.
Yantian-Xiaomeisha, a 6km-long part of the first section, opened in April this year while the length running between Xiaomeisha and Xichong of the section, four kilometres long, is not available yet due to the construction of a new inspection station on the demarcation line of the special economic zone.
The B section is 8.766km at length and will cost 670 million yuan (US$80.4m).
Statistics show that the in-service part of the A section accommodated 60 per cent of the traffic to the eastern part of the city during the May Day holidays.
The 28.92km-long Yantian-Bagang Expressway with a total investment of 1.92 billion yuan is the main passageway in the eastern part of the city.(Mu Zi)
