《憨豆先生》之憨豆博士篇
在家里，大卫准备向妻子艾莉生说憨豆将会来他们家住的事。
Alison: Let's take a break, David. This weekend, why don't we just get into the car and drive to the coast. Find a motel. Like before the kids were born. Win me another Bambi. Jennifer can stay and look after Kevin.
艾莉生: 我们休息会吧，大卫。我们这个周末开车去海边怎么样？找一个汽车旅馆。就像孩子们出生前那样。我们再生个孩子吧! 珍妮芬可以照顾凯文的。
David: Sounds great. Excellent. Though-, Ahm... there's this guy who's coming to work at the Gallery, from England...
大卫: 真是个不错的主意。可是，嗯，有个人从英国来，将在我们的美术馆工作......
Alison: Yeeees?
艾莉生: 什么?
David: And they asked me if we'd like to ... you know... put him up for a while.
大卫: 他们问我是否可以…嗯…留他暂住一阵子。
Alison: There aren't hotels?
艾莉生: 难道没有旅馆可以让他住吗?
David: Yes, there are hotels. They just thought maybe it'd be nice for him to stay with a real American family. Popcorn, waffles, all that stuff.
大卫: 是有旅馆。可是他们觉得也许让他住在一个真正的美国家庭中会更好。吃着爆米花，大家在一起闲聊，诸如此类的事……
Alison: And what did you say?
艾莉生: 你是怎么说的?
David: I said I'd check with you.
大卫: 我说我得跟你商量商量。
(艾莉生不相信大卫说的是真话)
David: Then I said 'yes'.
大卫: 后来我说可以。
Alison: Do we know anything about him?
艾莉生: 我们了解这个人吗?
David: Ahm - he's male. He's English. He's a doctor of er ... at least two things. I think they would have mentioned if he was a blind dwarf. Or one of those guys who kills lots of people all the time. I think we're looking at someone moderately normal here.
大卫: 哦，他是个男的。英国人。博士，至少有两个博士学位。他肯定不是什么瞎眼的侏儒或是什么杀人无数的歹徒，因为如果是这样他们早告诉我了。我想我们正在谈论的是一个相当正常的人。
Alison: David - are you ever going to learn to say 'no'?
艾莉生: 大卫, 你就不能说"不"吗?
David: Yes. Yes. Sometimes.
