Beijing may co-host Olympic with Taiwan: official
|
CHINA'S top sports official said some events could be held on the island of Taiwan if Beijing is chosen to stage the 2008 Olympic Games.
With two months to go before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) meets in Moscow to decide the 2008 venue, Yuan Weimin, chairman of China Olympic Committee and director of the State Sports Administration, struck the most positive note so far by a Chinese official over Taiwan's possible participation.
“If Beijing's Olympic bid is successful, then we won't rule out the possibility of joint organization with Taiwan as long as it's under the 'One China' principle," Yuan told the Beijing Youth Daily.(SD-Agencies)
