ADMINISTRATIVE Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Donald Tsang will lead a 282-member delegation to the western region of the Chinese mainland from May 20-29, the SAR Government announced on Tuesday.
The delegation, which comprises senior businessmen, professionals and government officials, will visit the cities of Xi'an, Chengdu and Urumqi in the 10-day visit, apart from the national capital Beijing.
Tsang said at a press briefing held on Tuesday that the visit was aimed at “opening the door" for local businessmen to invest in western China, which, in return, would create a “win-win situation" with people from both sides benefiting.
Tsang said that Hong Kong businessmen have already touched on the development of the eastern region and “it is time to explore a new market".
“We have in Hong Kong a very well developed legal infrastructure and business infrastructure to support the kind of development work now being contemplated in the western part of China," he added.(Xinhua)
