Brunei Sultan tours city

SULTAN of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah visited Shenzhen on Wednesday.
In his meeting with Vice-Mayor Li Decheng on the same day, the Sultan said he was very much impressed by what he saw and heard here.
Bolkiah pointed out that commercial interaction between Brunei and China, especially cities like Shenzhen, should be greatly enhanced.
“I will spare no efforts to ask investors from Brunei to come and seek potential business opportunities in Shenzhen,” Bolkiah said.
During his stay here, the Sultan also visited the Shenzhen Hi-Tech Industrial Park, Zhongxing Telecom and other local enterprises.
The Sultan came to SZ after attending the APEC High Level Meeting in Human Capacity Building in Beijing on Tuesday.
The human capacity building meeting was jointly proposed by Chinese President Jiang Zemin and the Sultan at the Eighth APEC Informal Leadership Meeting held last year in Brunei. The Ninth APEC Informal Leadership Meeting will be held in Shanghai this year.
With a total population of 310,000, the Southeast Asian country of Brunei has abundant reserves of oil and other natural resources. Its GDP per capita is more than US$10,000.
Brunei established diplomatic relationship with China 10 years ago.
