Throwing eggs on the Internet
|
NOW everyone has the chance to throw an egg at Britain's Deputy Prime Minister... without worrying about being hit by a swift left jab.
Disgruntled British voters have been given the chance to hurl virtual eggs at John Prescott and his colleagues in an Internet game.
Entitled "Splat the MP (Member of Parliament)" the game's website has had well over 140,000 visitors since it made its debut on Thursday, said Panlogic, the Internet marketing agency that created it.
The site had been in development for some time but the company was inspired to include Prescott after he got into a brawl with an egg-throwing protester during an election campaign walkabout on Wednesday.
Prescott, a former amateur boxer, lashed out and landed a left jab on the chin of the culprit, farm labourer Craig Evans.
The website's opening page entices the surfer to play with the message: "Want to chuck eggs at John Prescott without being punched in the face...?"
But succeed in splatting an animated Prescott and you get one of his trademark punches in return.
Players can also splat Prime Minister Tony Blair and Conservative leader William Hague and earn points in the process. If you hit Robbie Williams or Britney Spears your score goes down.
William Makower, Panlogic's chief operating officer, said of the game: "In an election period, it is light-humoured and very topical."
The game can be found at www.panlogic.co.uk.(SD-Agencies)
