Guinness record
GUANGZHOU: Sixteen Chinese police officers swam across South China's 30-kilometre long Qiongzhou Strait in 10 hours on Saturday, setting a new Guinness World Record.
Twenty-five police officers, including three women, aged between 19 and 54, began their attempt in the tidal waters at Guangdong Province's Xuwen County early Saturday morning.
After 10 hours, 16 of them had successfully completed the swim, setting a new Guinness World Record when they reached the shore near Hainan's capital.
Rat plague
DALIAN: A batch of grass seed imported from the United States has been intercepted recently as fresh rat excrement and urine were found by the Dayaowan Bureau for Inspection and Quarantine in Dalian, a port city in Northeast China's Liaoning Province.
It is the first time that such a case was seized by the quarantine bureau from cargo imports from the USA.
