Morning Rob! (Tho'(1) it's *real* morning here)
Thanks for your note. No time to reply now, 'cos(2) Allie is nagging(唠叨) on about my homework and the state of my room as if it's real important. The homework is simps(3), stuff for dummies(笨蛋), and I like my room the way it is.
I think she just wants me out of the way so she can log on herself. She's got her own ID and all. I ask you — 68 years old and the woman's started surfing(上网)!
Lauren
Lauren King lived in Toronto, Canada, with her grandmother, Alice. Rob laughed at the thought of a grey-haired old lady throwing her knitting(毛线活) in the bin and settling down for a few hours on the Internet.
Two notes left to look at. He brought up the one from New York; from his namesake(同姓), Mitch Zanelli.
Rob, my Zanelli-dude(4)!
How ya cooking?(5) Been anywhere pepperoni(红色辣香肠)-hot on your Cyber croooozzzing?(6) Guess what I landed on the White House Cyber-lawn yesterday! Really! You can actually e-mail the President of the USA now!
So I did! Asked him what he was doing about the price of batteries of hand-helds(手提电脑) I get through a zillion(千千万) a week! I'll copy you his answer when it comes in.
Mitch ‘Life Starts At Midnight’
Zanelli
Total loon(蠢人)! thought Rob. Not like him at all, even though they shared the same surname. That was why Rob had contacted him in the first place, wondering if they were related. Since then, Rob had discovered that Mitch lived in New York, and worked as a washer-up in a cafe. It was a special type of cafe, though, with Internet computers for the customers to use without having to buy their own. By getting in extra-early, or staying extra-late, Mitch was allowed to log on for free.
Leaving his final note unread, Rob finished his lunch then loaded (存入) a file he'd discovered on the Internet about how to get news about space-shuttle launches from NASA in Florida. To save time, he turned the file into an e-mail note. At the end, he added.
:CC. ALL
ALL was the name of a mailing list he'd set up so that he could automatically send a copy of any note to Lauren, Tom and Mitch without having to type their full details every time.
With a quick click on the SEND button he sent the three copies of the note on their way.
Notes:
1. tho' = though
2. 'cos = because
3. simp = simpleton, 傻瓜
4. 花花公子
5. = How are you cooking?
6. Been...croooozzzing?在互联网上去过什么有趣的地方吗?
