Expressway up and running
|
THE first section of the Yantian-Bagang Expressway, running between Yantian and Xichong, was put into service on June 1 as planned.
"I did not expect to get here so quickly," mused a Mr He who drove with his son to Xichong for International Children's Day.
Drivers using the new expressway can leave the special economic zone through the temporary Xichong Inspection Station, one in temporary use, at any time they like, though drivers heading into the zone through the station can only do so between 8am and 10.30pm.
It is reported that the new Beizaijiao Inspection Station will become available in October to replace the present temporary one.
The 6km-long Yantian-Xiaomeisha section of highway opened in April while the length between Xiaomeisha-Xichong only opened this month while construction of the Beijiaozai Inspection Station progressed. (Li Jing)
