Green festival
DURING its "Children's Day" celebrations, Cuihua Primary School in Luohu District launched its first-ever "green festival" in an effort to create environmentally-friendly habits among the kids.
Beginning this semester, the school has arranged for a series of activities to establish a "green passage". Students are encouraged to make environmentally-friendly handicrafts and beautify their school campus.
Young inventors
AS released by the Municipal Women and Children's Working Committee, 36 students in Guangdong Province were recently awarded the "children's innovation prize", including Ma Qichen of SZ Experimental School, Yang Fan of Nantou Primary School, Wen Yaxin of Nantou Middle School, and Chen Yu and two others from Lixiang Middle School.
Yang Fan has also been awarded the title "green star" by the China Environment Daily.
Ad design contest
AWARDS were given out yesterday to winners of an environmental protection ad design contest among local primary and middle school students in honour of World Environment Day.
Co-sponsored by environmental protection bureaus and educational sections in various districts, the contest enlisted participation from over 100 schools and collected over 4,000 projects. A total of 51 designs were awarded for their innovation and unique beauty.
