Advanced chip made in China
|
ZTE Corporation recently announced it has successfully developed a large-scale chip for use in communication systems, said to be the first one produced in China.
According to ZTE engineers, the four-channel interface analog chip, ZX2301, designed as a mixture of analog and digital IC, performs well in restoring distorted signals and modulating pulses, tasks beyond the function of a wholly digital chip.
Nevertheless, the analog IC is more complicated than all-digital chips. Even the most minute slip-up may cause serious problems, engineers told Shenzhen Daily.
The chip, which is only 6mm square, has more than 10,000 transistors on its analog section.
ZTE says ZX2301 can be used in the company's wide spectrum of switches, transmitters and access networks, saving a considerable amount of money if it is able to replace imported chips.
