New programme offers overseas study
|
XIXIANG Campus of the second Affiliated Middle School to Beijing Normal University in Bao'an District, which opens later this month, will greatly promote the education development of Xixiang Township, the first township "strong in education in Guangdong Province".
The Beijing-based school is one of the six State-level model schools in Beijing and one of the model IT education schools in China. It has also become the research base for education modernization.
The co-operation with local Sanwei School is another big move for Beijing Normal University in the field of compulsory education. The university opened its first branch school in Nanshan District last year.
Liu Xun, director of the Bao'an District Education Bureau, said in an interview that Sanwei School's teaching quality will be greatly improved by introducing the advanced administration, the teaching ideas and the high-quality staff from the Beijing-based school.
According to the agreement, local students will have more opportunities to study abroad. Based on the Beijing school's experience in sending students overseas, the Xixiang campus will add an international exchange department to its senior department to help recruit foreign students and to send native students to study abroad. The students, in addition to the regular courses, will be offered special training programmes in English and computing. They will also be given lectures to better understand the living and studying habits in the targeted countries. The school is responsible for choosing target countries for overseas studies through the education exchange service of the Ministry of Education and to help in visa formalities.
