Illicit drugstores busted
|
PROGRESS has been made in the rectification and regulation of Shenzhen's previously chaotic drug market begun in late May, resulting in the closure of 206 unlicensed drug stores and counters and the confiscation of 838 boxes of drugs with an estimated value of 2.5 million yuan (about US$300,000).
The news was released from the local pharmaceutics supervision administration.
Several relevant departments of the city government launched the effort, which they say has dealt a severe blow to illicit sales of medicine. One such retailer who had dodged 10 previous checks was hear to remark with disappointment: "I'm really taken this time" after his illegal drug store was raided.
Some of the illicit drug stores or clinics also sold fake medicine.
The effort is still underway. Ding Dehai from the administration said that more teams will be dispatched to Longgang and Bao'an districts to find and raid illegal medicine dealers that have so far escaped the arm of the law or opened up recently.
In another development, the administration on Monday published a list of disqualified medicines. Twelve medicines made outside the city were declared below standard and were ordered to be taken off the market immediately.
Following examination of the city's 59 drug manufacturers, no problem with regard to drug quality has been reported.
